What Is Injection Moulding in Dentistry?
Injection moulding is a restorative dental technique that allows us to rebuild teeth using a precise mould and tooth-coloured composite - giving an aesthetic result.
Think of it like creating a custom “template” for your new smile.
Using digital scans, we design the ideal shape for your teeth. We then create a mould and can inject composite into this. This helps us rebuild teeth with great accuracy.
We will match the shade of the fillings to your neighbouring teeth - if you are considering whitening, this needs to be done prior to the injection moulding!
The result
Natural-looking teeth
Minimal drilling
Improved smile aesthetics
What Is the Process Like?
1. Smile Planning: We begin with digital scans or impressions of your teeth and use these to digitally design your new smile.
2. Creating the Custom Mould: A mould is created from the smile design, which acts as the guide for rebuilding the teeth.
3. Restoring the Teeth: A tooth-coloured special injectable composite material is injected into the mould and bonded onto the teeth.
This technique allows your dentist to create beautiful, natural-looking restorations that can look similar to veneers, while being cheaper and quicker!
